Congratulations Mayor Majiwa

Nairobi City council has a new mayor His Worship Geofrey Odhiambo Majiwa.

Congratulation sir and thank you for showing Kenyans that disputes can be settled,in a way where everybody becomes a winner and no losers. The Nairobi councillors have shown unity which the entire country should emulate.People don't need to die or the police don't have to be called in to settle disputes.Once again to all Nairobi councillors YOU MADE NAIROBIANS PROUD.

the mayor and his team are taking up the council when Nairobians expect alot from them. This time we believe that it is Nairobi that shall set the pace for others to follow not Nakuru like it was on the issue of public smoking.

His worship.people shall be waiting to see how you deal with the traffic menace that has reduced the city to a slow moving city.
How you will manage the slums and hawkers.
And don't forget that we also expect the it is under your reign that we want Nairobi to be a 24-hr city.

Don't walk in the footsteps of your predecessors who after wearing the big chain ans seating on the big seat forgot the plights of the city dwellers.a man of your calliber can turn around this city and put it on a global map.

Congratulations once again Sir.

Kenya can emulate Dubai

A friend of mine was in Dubai recently and came back with lots of praise for her trip. She had a lot to admire.Lucky for me she had an opportunity to photograph some sites and shared with me .

Dubai being the second largest Emirate in the United Arab Emirates and probably the most well known has a lot to teach Kenya . Under the guidance of Shaikh Mohamed bin Rashid bin Maktoum, it has forged a reputation as one of the most important and vibrant cities in the Middle East.
It has lots of luxurious hotels with restaurants serving cuisine from around the world.
Infact internationally renowned celebrity chefs own restaurants in Dubai.
For travelers and business personalities the place has a variety of cuisine to offer.
The city has plenty of places to relax, no matter what your inclination - be it bars, coffee houses and shisha bars.
Kenya can indeed come up and measure to the standard of Dubai if not better.
In Kenya there are beach-fronts to manage, bird watching sites to popularize, game parks and reserves to conserve and beautiful cities to improve and maintain.
A city like Nairobi today is tattered: from insecurity to traffic jams, from hawkers' menace to noise pollution from the matatu industry, you don't need a seer to tell you that a serious investor would prefer Dubai than Kenya.
This article does not intend to belittle Nairobi and Kenya, but to call on the administration to rise to the occasion and improve the situation. Traffic jams in Nairobi are manageable, the only thing is to enhance security and let the business go on in the city for 24hours. Make Nairobi a 24hr -city

This will greatly improve the city.
The working shifts shall be three instead of one, thus accommodating many people at intervals.
The delivery vehicles can deliver at any other time and not necessarily in the morning.
Minor road repairs can be done during the night shifts.
All this will greatly manage traffic in Nairobi

Barrack Obama win is good news to Kenya

Two states of the USA remain on lips of many Kenyans today-
Wisconsin and Hawaii.
Mr. Barrack Obama the Illinois senator with Kenyan roots crushed Hillary Clinton in the primaries here. Mr. Obama is riding a wave of victory that has made Kenyans to at least forget the troubles at home.
In Kenya the situation is worse and to many Kenyans an Obama win comes with some jubilation and some new topic to discuss. Many of those that are concerned are the youth who see Obama as an inspiration and a role model.

Kenya have proved that Kenya is indeed part and parcel of the international community. The events in Kenya are not being watched by Kenyans in the Diaspora alone. Kenyan neighbors and Africa at large is so concerned and are of opinion that the political instability in Kenya is a defect the whole continent. This has been portrayed by the African leaders who have voiced their concern over the situation. President of Uganda traveled to Kenya to talk to the two opposing camps. Tanzania has its own Benjamin Mkapa, a former president among the eminent persons charged with bringing peace and tranquility to Kenya. The team is headed by He former UN secretary general Koffi Annan

Kenyans are hoping that this shall be indeed be a victorious year for their country. The founding lasting peace and if Obama emerges as the winner, Kenyans shall indeed celebrate even more that Americans.

The USA and UK mean well for Kenya.

It is utmost disturbing to hear some of our leaders lashing out at the international community who are voicing their concerns about the situation in Kenya. Power seems to have gotten into their heads and the are fast forgetting what it costs to utter irresponsible outbursts.

To them people that have been displaced are nothing .the power that they desire to occupy is what matters. They claim sovereignty and one is left to wonder if that is about people being killed and displaced, and their properties burned.

Kenya has been involved in solving other countries' crisis including Sudan and Somalia. Why are they thinking that they should be left alone to deal with their problems?

From the 1997 bomb blast through Kikambala Bombing to the collapse of a building in Nyamakima Nairobi. Why didn’t this arrogant people tell The Us and UK to keep off?

Nobody can predict what tomorrow will bring, let us not get drunk with power. Many have found their downfall on that path

Shame at Kenyatta National Hospital

when Ntv' undercover cameraman exposed the shame at the Kenyatta national Hospital, the government was there the next day through the Health permanent secretary to assure the public that it will work on the situation and improve it.that they will ensure patients don't sleep on the floor again, that food shall not be served on tribal lines and that people with chopped limbs shall not be kept waiting for more than two weeks.

What is your comments on this?

If there is staff shortage how many Kenyans are willing to voluntarily offer their services to hospital?

Education is the key

Kenyan of all walks of life welcome the idea of quality and affordable education. Indeed this year, more students might join Form one, which is an indication that Kenyans have a desire to lean if given the chance.

I therefore want to call upon the government to facilitate the program as earl y as possible to make it possible for the young people to join secondary school.
If the larger Kenyan population has access to quality education. Kenya shall be able to compete on the global arena with other developing countries.

Parents should equally take advantage of the program and send their children to schools, days are gone when children used to stay at home and assist their parents with looking after goats. Let education be the best investment to give to this generation.

By doing this the future generation shall not wait for handouts from anybody. The men and women of the next generation shall be able to invent and not imitate.

Last but not least the government should know that after secondary education, there is tertiary education also. The government should consider putting up more colleges across the country to accommodate the ever increasing number of people who want to read.

Kenya should be owned by Kenyans.

Kenya should be owned by kenyans Imagine a group of rowdy youths setting a blaze a section of the Telkom exchange offices on Ngong Road, Reason? Tear gas was thrown at them.

With a large population of Kenyans having nothing to call theirs and living from hand to mouth, the country is treading on very dangerous grounds.

I mean people who have nothing to loose are dangerous.

Many Kenyan properties were reduced to ashes by the poor Kenyans who actually don’t care. To them it is better is you and them were at par. You can not have as much to eat while they sleep hungry.

There is a need to make equal distribution and management of resources and wealth in Kenya.

Kenyans who earn little should be allowed to own properties and interests in the country.

Today a an average Kenyan on the street would rather buy a newspaper with the headline: Teenage fisherman fights off a crocodile in Budalang'i than buy the one reading CMC profit up by 12%.To them whether a company in Kenya makes loss or profit it doesn’t bother them. If they had stakes in the company it would be news to them. Even if they get the newspaper later in the day, they would put it in good use according to them, wrapping things.

The problem is for example, when an Initial Public Offer comes up; the minimum shares one can purchase cost Kshs 50,000, locking out the common man. When recruitments are done they are partisan. All this leaves a majority of Kenyan bitter and when an opportunity comes up where they think they can revenge, they seize it quickly.

My point, is Kenyan should be proud to be Kenyan not by slogan, they should own Kenya and that will make them to guard it and speak well of it. Is it up to anyone that has the opportunity and ability to change this.

Remember in life it is better to live a good legacy.

kenya has come along way

Kenyans concur with me that we have come along way.
From fighting for independence,
from the lose of prominent personalities to death
From the deadly 1982 coup

From the tribal clashes of the early 90's
From the Kaya Bombo clashes at the coast
From the El Nino floods

In fact Kenyan problems will bring us together rather than divide us
we shall surely come out this one also
God bless Kenya
